The Aristocat's

This weekend I didn’t have a lot of time to sit and watch a movie but I managed to do it somehow. So after prom sometime in the late afternoon I watched the Aristocat’s.  This movie is another Disney movie but I don't know if a lot of you viewers had seen this in a while or not at all. The Aristocat’s is about a litter of kittens and their mother getting taken from their owner. What is worse is that the Duchess’s butler who is the owner of the cats took them because he didn’t like them.  This movie was written in 1970 and was directed by Wolfgang Reitherman. This movie can be sad but at the end everything works out and back fires on the butler. The reason everything worked out was because of a tom cat that knew his surroundings and was able to give the cat a lesson of culture and new music.

Newsies

I didn't actually watch a movie this weekend but last weekend on our way to Denver we watched a lot of movies. So the movie I am going to talk about is Newsies. This was the first time seeing this movie and I thought it was really good and  Iwould like to see it agian. Newsies came out in 1992. It is a Disney movie about the 1899 newsboys stike. It was directed by Kenny Ortega, written by Bob Tzudiker and Noni White. It stars Christian Bale, Bill Pullman and Robert Duvall.

This movie all starts with the CEO of the newspaper raising the price of the distrobution price of the paper and the boys not having enough money to get the newspapers. So instead of going with the flow the boys plan a strike. Along the way the boys get into trouble and things get messier then they planned it would get. But if you want to find out what happens at the end watch it because it is really good.

The Beauty and the Beast

This weekend the fine arts of Belle Fourche High School went to Denver for our Senior Trip. It was a lot of fun and a lot of differnet culture. The high light of our weekend because it is my favorite disney movie growing up. This movie is now a Broadway hit and was one of the only Disney Movies to be nominated for a Tony Award.

This musical is about a prince who has been cursed because he wouldn't let the old lady in. With this curse the Beast had to love another and that person will have to love him back. Belle is another odd person in her town because she loves to read books. At the beginning of Belle being in the castle things start off on a bad foot and when he realizes that Belle is here for a reason and lesson the end up falling in love. If you haven't seen the movie you should and if you ever get the chance to see the musical definitely go because it is way better than the movie.

The Lion King

Hello everybody, I know last weed was a rough week for all of us and when I feel down I put the movie the Lion King. This is my favorite movie besides Beauty and the Beast will talk about next week because I have a chance to see it live. Now to get back to the movie I watched this week it did make me feel a little better and I hope it can make you better too.

The Lion King PosterThis movie was released in 1994 and was directed by Roger Allens, and Rob Minkoff. This movie is a play on Hamlet by William Shakespeare. If you don't know Hamlet and you have never seen this movie it is about two brothers and one of them is King and the other one is in line if the King and the Prince die. The brother plans to kill both of them at the same time but fails to do so and only kills the King and then frames it on the prince. The movie is a little different because Simba runs away after Scar his uncle told him that he killed his father and Simba ran away. You will have to see what happens if you haven't seen it you have to because I am not going to tell you how it ends.

Tarzan

This weekend  I watched Tarzan. Tarzan is a disney film and was made in 1999. This movie is one of my favorites mostly because of the clothes but it has a really good meaning and the music works well with the movie.

This movie is about a couple and a baby (Tarzan) who escaped a burning boat and landed on a near by
File:Tarzan (1999 film) - theatrical poster.jpg island. This family made a life on the island, built a home even, and one day a cheetah came by and killed the parents. Tarzan was hidden so the cheetah didn't find him until Kala who will be Tarzan mom who is a gorilla. So Kala raises Tarzan till he is grown up with his friends Tantor and Terk. But the gorillas life would soon change because not far from the some English explorers are here to see what the island is made of. The main explorers are Professor Porter, Jane Porter, and head hunter Clayton. Jane and Tarzan meet fall in love and Tarzan learns more about where he came from and if you haven't seen this movie you need to it should be in every kids movie collection.

Bye Bye Birdie

Bye Bye Birdie is the musical I watched this weekend. I have not seen this musical in a while but the good and bad thing about movies if you see it once it doesn't change. This musical is not my favorite I believe that the actors are use to the stage productions not movie productions. This movie is based on Elvis Presley and when he was enlisted to go to war.

Conrad Birdie is the biggest rock & roll star of the 60's ever to be drafted. Aspiring chemist and song writer Albert is convinced he can make his fortune and marry his girlfriend Rosie if he gets Conrad on the Ed Sullivan show to kiss a high school girl goodbye. Albert's mother will do anything to break him up with Rosie. Kim and Hugo, the high school steadies, live in Sweet Apple, Ohio where most of the action takes place.

This movie was directed by George Sidney and it starred Dick Van Dicke, Janet Leigh, and Ann Margret

Annie

Annie PosterI watched the loving movie Annie this weekend. If you haven't heard of Annie you better watch this movie because it is a must for all musicals. Annie was made into a movie in 1982 and was directed by John Huston.

This movie takes place during the 1930's and is about an orphaned girl who lives in a terrible orphanage who is runned by Miss Hannigan. Annie's life changes when Mr. Oliver Warbuck sends his assistant to the orphanage and Annie is picked to stay at his house. You will have to watch the movie to see how it ends and if you do get a chance to watch or if you have seen it before tell me what you like about it. Have a nice night and see you Tomorrow.

Country Strong

This weekend I watched Country Strong. Country Strong is about a country singer who had an acohol and drug addiction and she wasn't able to finish her tour. She also was pregnant at the time and lost her kid due to the addiction. A year later her husband which is also her producer and manager has reschedule the towns of the tour that she missed when she hasn't yet been cleared from the rehab center. In exchange for her to go on tour the hospital has sent Beau who is her care person through out her rehab process. Beau also singings on the tour.

This movie is written and directed by Shana Feste. The main actors are Gwynenth Paltrow (Kelly Canter), Tim McGraw (James Canter), Garrett Hedlund (Beau Hutton),  and Leighton Meester (Chiles Stanton). If you have not seen this movie it is a must but if you don't like country music you may not like it as much as others. PS there is a big ending which I do not like at all so go and watch it.

O Brother, Where Art Thou

Sorry everybody about last week I was really busy, but this weekend I watched the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. If you have never seen this movie you should because it is really really good. This movie takes place in the Dirty Thirties in Mississippi. It is about three men escaping jail and finding their treasurer that a man told them about on the train tracks. This movie is a musical because more than half of it is sung. The most famous song that is in this movie is Man of Constant Sorrow.  A cool fact about this movie is that Goerge Clooney never actually sang some other person was recorded for his character.

This movie was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and stars Goerge Clooney, John Turturro, Tim Blake Nelson, John Goodman, Holly Huntera and Charles Durning. I give this movie two thumbs up because I love the movie also it takes place during my favorite time period.

Fame

This weekend I watched the movie Fame. Fame is about high school kids wanting to pursue a career in a fine arts job. These students where trying to pursue an acting, musician, singing, or dancing as there career. It opens up with all of them auditioning to get into the school. Some of the ones that are auditioning to get into the school are challenged a little bit harder then some but at the end of the day the ones that are picked it comes more natural but still have some challenges.
This movie was re-made in 2009 and is based off of in 1980 movie. Most people believe that this movie didn't change from its original version besides the fact that it was made to modern time. The director of this play is Kevin Tancharoen. Everybody should watch this movie to get the full understanding of the movie and to see the hardships it takes to pursue a job in the fine arts center.
